The Wishlist Meme

Step One

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

So, without further ado, I present... MY WISHLIST 2009

1. Copies of the movies 'Shelter', 'Star Trek', 'The Plan', 'The Proposal' and the pilot movie-ep for 'Caprica'

2. The Queer as Folk (US) box-set. This is proving very difficult to find; I may have to resort to ebay for individual seasons (I'm not paying more than $35 per season, something that's also difficult cos each season is so expensive here... Upwards of $75)

3. Tori Amos' seasonal album, John Mayer 'Battle Studies', The Glee Cast album, any Ryan Adams album, Adam Lambert 'For Your Entertainment', Kris Allen's self-titled, Jamie Cullum 'The Pursuit' (pre-ordered!!! YAY!!!)

4. Some scenic imagery; y'know, photos of trees, plants, roads, ect, and done up in Photoshop to look extra purty

5. Some J2 fic where they're in college or high school that's schmoopy but believable (and lacks a gay freakout)

6. Some Kyle/Oliver OLTL fic where they're in college and kinda-sorta-dating (cos college Oliver is adorable, and Kyle is just... GUH)

7. A JOB THAT PAYS ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE MOVING OUT A VIABLE OPTION (OMG, the day after I posted this... I get a job! That pays REALLY well, for a year. I <3 my life)

8. An awesome holiday season and a brilliant 2010 for everyone I hold dear

The Epicness of One, Adam Lambert

Okay, so let’s talk about Adam Lambert.

The man is genius. He is made of so much epic win I’m not even sure he’s real. In fact, up until I see him do anything less amazing than his current standard, I’m going to suspect he’s an alien from a far cooler place than here, sent on a mission to entertain humanity and encourage sexual expression.

So far, he’s doing a bang-up job.

I can’t think of anyone that compares on Australian Idol. And the American Idol finales always look like so much fun, especially this year’s. Okay, so we get the finale held at the Sydney Opera House, but they get QUEEN. QUEEN, PEOPLE.

I’m just going to take a moment to pimp this:

Yeah. Just... yeah.

So in conclusion, Adam Lambert is prettymuch the highlight of my year. Though the BSG marathon (last 12 episodes in less than 12 hours, with only one break for dinner and one break for caffeine) comes a very close second.

So about that last post...

... yeah, it was just a mood. I got so much fucking love today. Texts, phone calls, hugs, coffee, emails... I take it all back, my friends absolutely 100% love me.

Yeah, I kind of love my life :)

I'm baaa-aaack

Oh, wow. It’s been forever since I’ve updated. Not from lack of caring or trying or anything, just from lack of having the internet.

See, during the Superbowl broadcast here in Oz, there was an electric storm and during this electric storm, I had an impulse to check my emails. This lead to a frying of our home computer’s circuits. Hence, no internet.

But now, oh now... I have a laptop AND broadband, so hey, life is sweet now. :)

Updates will be frequent. My uni life is so very crazy and home life is a stressful mess. And I’m still a fangirl who loves her shows with a passion not really seen in reality.

But for now, I leave you with this:

Isn't he gorgeous?

The first 5 people that respond to this post will get something made by me. It will be about, or tailored to, those first five people who respond.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
+ I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
+ What I create will be just for you.
+ It'll be done this year.
+ You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a mix tape. It may be bad fic (in my case, highly likely), or a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake (or burn) you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
+ I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well!!

Sex hair

Also, WTF?! ROB CUT HIS HAIR!!!!!! I'm quite sad about this. It was pretty hair, made everyone wanna touch it and play with it. Now it's just... fuzz. Better grow back, is all I'm saying.

Three days of fandom squee

Remember me saying something about how Christmas chaos was yet to hit me? It hit me, hard, three days ago, and I'm only now recovering. Keep coughing up tinsel.

Thursday I went into the city to Minotaur to pick up presents for my nearest and darling-est, Rhii and Bron. I managed to get myself a book (Will The Vampire People Please Leave The Lobby? by Allyson Beatrice) which made me very happy, as well as the gifts I wanted. For the record, Minotaur had no Twilight stuff. They did have posters, but they were all sold out, and they're the same two that What's New has. I met my mum for lunch at her work, and we went present shopping, which nearly killed the pair of us because we walked up and down Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn with a steadily increasing number of bags. My 21st birthday present, a diamond ring, was fitted and bought (I nearly cried, it was so PRETTY), as were the remainder of my Christmas presents (a shirt and scarf) and presents for my cousins.

Friday I went shopping with Bron, her younger sis, and their mum. Bron loved the present I gave her, and therefore I can probably get away with murder now because I am her absolute favourite person ever. We walked around until our feet hurt and our arms nearly fell off under the weight of bags and bags and bags. I found a book for my dad, and two books for me, one of which is Prom Night From Hell, with contributions from Stephanie Meyer and Meg Cabbot (*squee*). The best part, however, was that What's New FINALLY had the Twilight poster I wanted, so I bought it and the Bite Me (Edward 4 Eva) shirt. THAT is happiness, right there! :) The poster has taken pride of place over my bed, replacing my much loved Emily The Strange poster (I'm sorry, Emily, I'll put you back up when I get over my current obsession!).

Today? Well, today I took my sis to see High School Musical 3: Senior Year, and it wasn't all that bad. I'm not a huge fan of the franchise (I tend to cringe and laugh inappropriately and get glared at by my sis) but I did like this one. When we were watching the previews (my sis makes us get there EARLY so she never misses the previews, and then tells me she wants to see every damn movie advertised) there was one for Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. I think at this point I should admit my absolute love for children's animated films. I'm very glad I still have a sis of the appropriate age group so that when we go to see them it looks like I'm the big sister stuck taking the little sister out. In reality, it's me going, "you wanna see *insert film name*? I'll take you. I'll pay! Please?" :) Suffice to say, Ice Age 3 looks good.

Oh, finally, I'm yet to figure out how one does an lj cut. If anyone could help, that would be awesome. :)

Shopping shopping shopping

So yesterday I realised that I was tagged to do a meme by

foxythang2000 and so I figure I should probably actually do it, since a) I ADORE memes, and b) I had a REALLY good day today and I need an excuse to brag :)

Today I went shopping with my mum for Christmas presents. It wasn't crowded, mostly because we went early in the morning and therefore didn't have to wait too long in lines. We found a few things for my sis, a couple of presents for my cousins, and the two awesomesauce CD's that I wanted. But the best bit, and this made me actually squeal (and caused the person next to me to stare at me strangely), was that I found these fabulous Twilight tee-shirts at What's New?. One had Team Edward written on it in blood-red (with little blood drops hanging off the words) and the other one had Bite Me (Edward 4 Eva) on it. I'm completely in love with the Team Edward one but I'll have to find it in me to shell out $35 for it, and as much as I keep buying Twilight stuff there does come a point when you have to stop. I'm not sure when that point is, though. Maybe when I actually bid for Rob Pattinson on eBay? :) I think I can consider finding those tee's my happy for the day, even if I'm yet to own one :)

Tomorrow's plan is to go shopping for Bron and Rhii's Christmas presents at Minotaur. I say 'plan' because I walk into that store knowing what I need to buy and walk out with stuff I didn't even know I wanted. Case in point, I went in to get John Barrowman's autobiography, and walked out with William Shatner's. Oops? I have a feeling that Minotaur will have far more Twilight stuff than anywhere else I've been, so I'll probably walk out with Alice's necklace or something. Here's hoping I remember to actually BUY their presents (reminder to self: Supernatural book and 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip').

My first post

Okay, so I've had this journal for about a month and a half now (maybe even two months, I'm not sure) and I figured I should really post something. Mostly I've run out of excuses NOT to post anything; exams are over, I'm home with nothing much to do, and the chaos that is Christmas has yet to actually hit me.

So, today was a big day. My little sister, who I watched grow from a tiny premature baby struggling to survive into this tall, athletic, amazon-esque young lady, graduated from primary school. Makes me feel old. Also makes me feel proud. She got up and made a speech in front of all of grade six and all the parents and teachers. She's absolutely amazing to watch when she speaks in public. She's done drama for three years now, and it's improved her confidence and ability to speak and command attention. It's just brilliant.

Today was also a big day because for the first time in a while, I woke up and didn't feel sick. Woot! I may be getting over whatever bug I've had for nearly a week now. And just in time to wrap up my Christmas shopping (oh joy). Mum has gotten into the habit of just telling me to buy things that I want, then paying me back for them and giving them to me for Christmas. Ensures that I get things that I want, but also takes the drama out of mum having to find things. So tomorrow I'm off to find me some music for Christmas, since I've got the book thing covered. Impulse buy: Companion to Twilight the Movie (I couldn't help myself! I opened the book up and there's a lovely full-page colour photo of Edward. What could I do?).

Should also give props to Bron darlin', one of my dearest friends, who wrote me some fic to make me feel better. I read it over breakfast this morning and laughed myself stupid. I'm convincing her to post it, and I'm sure she will, eventually. It's a lovely Dean, Castiel, and Sam (Supernatural) fic. Also has pie, coffee, cake, pancakes and the end of the world in it. Yes, one fic CAN have all that, and still make you laugh.

I have plans to see Twilight (finally!) on the weekend, so wish me luck for that. Here's hoping I like it. If not, well, I can always just stare at Rob. :)
